“From faith to faith.” Romans 1:17, From the faith of God He gives as a gift of faith to people who receive it. Because the righteousness of God is revealed in it. Out of God’s faith into us faith to believe and trust in Him. This is not the creation of a person by their on effort but must be given from God to the believer.
This verse is translated several different way as you see below.
From faith for faith,
From faith to faith
From faith unto faith
By faith unto faith
Out of faith into faith
Faith does not originate from within the one who believes. Before conversion, the sinner was spiritually dead in trespasses and sin. Dead people cannot exercise faith. In order to believe, God must resurrect one who is dead. In that moment, God gives the gift of faith and enables the sinner to believe. Saving faith comes from God, the Creator and Giver of faith. Faith does not originate within man, but comes down from God.
God must give the gift of faith before anyone can believe the message of Jesus and the Gospel.
Jesus died on the cross and shed His Holy Pure Blood for our sins. He arose on the third day from the tomb and has assented to the Right Hand of the Father. Through His sinless life, death, resurrection and ascension Jesus is able to give the gift of faith to those who desire to receive eternal life.
True salvation begins with real faith and goes on day by day as we walk in faith.
Faith is exercised in us, but it is what God does in us.
“It is God who is at work in you, both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13).
God holds us and keeps our faith active by His grace.
1:17 ‘Out of faith into faith’, in Greek this means out of the source something comes. And means into the place which something moves.
Out of faith into faith! The just will live out of faith.
Faith is not a human attribute or character trait, but a supernatural gift. Faith is not something that naturally arises out of the nature of the human, but is actually contrary to our sinful human nature. Out of faith refers to the faith that is God’s gift, totally apart from our nature, originating in God, and brought into the world through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This supernatural faith is the faith given to us in Christ, the faith belonging to the Man, Christ Jesus. Out of faith refers to the source, God’s supernatural faith given to us in Christ. Into faith refers to faith in the believer’s heart after God’s supernatural faith has become our faith by the miracle of the indwelling Christ. Our God given faith feeds on His supernatural faith constantly, out of faith into faith.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed out of faith into faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9
In todays world there is a very common phrase “the faith community”. This seems to mean people who have some kind of faith in religion or goodness. This can include religious people and even non religious people with faith in something.
This is not the kind of faith spoken of here.
‘Saving Faith’ must come from God through Jesus Christ.
This is why Jesus told Nicodemus who came to Him by night. “Amen, I say to you, unless one is born from above (again) he cannot see the kingdom of God.” This is a spiritual birth. Not something created by the efforts of a person. Jesus went on to say that “That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I say to you, ‘You must be born from above (again).” John 3:1-21.
“Looking unto Jesus, the author (originator) and finisher (perfecter) of faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 Jesus is the author or creator of faith and also the finisher and perfecter of faith! Glory! Receive from Jesus now!
This is the time, repent of trusting in yourself or something or someone else. Welcome Jesus into your heart and life. Jesus has given you the faith to believe and be saved. Jesus will keep you living a life of faith in Him. Confess Jesus as your Savior!
Praise the Lord! Receive faith from God and put that faith in God. Trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Welcome the Holy Spirit in your life and let Him lead you in the way of Jesus and the cross.
Share Jesus with others! Jesus will give then His faith in their heart and they will put that faith back into believing in and trusting Jesus. Amen.
Now having received faith from God step out and walk in the Spirit. Faith is to be active in ones life. Believe God and see the mighty works of our Lord Jesus manifest in your life.
As many of you may know I have walked around the world in every country and major island group. Been through wars, jungles dangers and challenges of all kinds. I’m in the Guinness World Records for the longest walk. Many people say you have great faith. I reply, I have great love. The love of Jesus moves me to step out and go wherever He leads. The faith is not something I worked up or create. I simply trust in Jesus and the faith He has given me.
For me personally I seek to know the will of God and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. In the call of Jesus I put my total faith. The places Jesus has lead me often have defied advice from people and human reason. Yet I follow the faith Jesus has given me and go forward with joy, whatever the danger or no matter how impossible it may seem.
I pray that my faith is simple and childlike and looks like Jesus. All my life Jesus speaks to me and then I seek to go in that direction with all my heart. I take credit for nothing. Any credit or glory is all from God and the glory is back to God.
I seek to be free from the opinions of other people as much as I can. Jesus did not follow the opinions of the world around Him. He received the Word of the Father and spoke and lived that. A life lived in faith should always point to Jesus and the will of God. Line your life up with the Word and Will of God and you can walk in it with joy and without fear.
Here is one of my favorite scriptures that I have focused on all my life.
“I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2
Get in the will of God and put the faith in you given by God to do the work God has called you to do and live in. This is how to live with inter peace and rest in your heart and spirit.
