‘The Power of Nothing’
“Having nothing, and yet possessing everything”
2 Corinthians 6:10
India is the second most populated nation on earth with well over one ‘billion’ people. I stood at Cape Camorin at the south tip of India with a simple 12-foot wooden cross. Had no promotion team, no money to advertise; no public address system, no car, yet the mission was to carry the cross north and share the good news of Jesus with the people of India. “Mission Impossible” many would say.
Yet within just days the news of the crosswalk by word of mouth spread along the highway leading up coast toward Kerala and Goa. Mighty healing started happening along the roadside and thousands then tens of thousands of people gathered to welcome the cross along the highway or in rallies of up to about fifty to a hundred thousand. It was one of the most amazing outpourings of the Holy Spirit I have ever witnessed. We estimated the cross or about 30,000 people per day in many areas were touching me or touched the cross. Untold thousands of people came to Jesus trusting Him as Savior and Lord.
As the news spread the local newspapers published stories, then the national press came both newspapers, magazines and TV. “The Pilgrim with the Holy Cross” was being seen or spoken of by millions of people in that mostly Hindu nation. Jesus did it! I later found myself in New Delhi with the leaders of the nation.
In India their holy men ‘walk’ to places of pilgrimage. They are simple with few material things. Now, a man appears ‘walking’ with a large cross heading north. People in India know the cross is about Christianity but now a real cross is being carried along the highway and they want to see a real cross and the ‘holy man’ carrying it in the heat and dirt and praying for the people and touching them. This mission struck a cord with the nation that millions of dollars could not have bought. (I am not a holy man, just using the term they use in India.)
The people identified with nothing and in that they found something…Jesus!
I could give you a long list of why I would not be chosen for the task of carrying the cross in every nation and major island group in the world. How could I raise a family, pay our bills, where would we sleep or eat?
However the call of Jesus was my qualification.
Often around the world it was because we had ‘nothing’ to drink or eat that people invited me into their homes that resulted in conversions and welcome. My wife and even at times my children walked into active wars with just the cross! The fact that we had no protection, no armed guards, supplies, melted the heart of the gunmen and armies. A number of times I’ve said men with guns pointed to my head. ‘You do what you have to do and I will do what Jesus has called me to do. God bless you!’ and walked on. The word spread and awesome things happened for the glory of God.
A defenseless pilgrim on a journey to the entire world walking in the love of Jesus and loving people though possessing nothing is rich beyond words to describe and in Jesus Name walks in the Power of the Will of God.
Then Peter said, “Silver or Gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and Walk!” Acts 3:6
My challenge to you is not to focus on what you don’t have but what you ‘DO’ have!
You have Christ ‘IN’ you. You have the Power of the Holy Spirit! You have Jesus with you ALWAYS. You have the LOVE OF GOD. You have the leading of the Holy Spirit. Oh Praise the Lord. The Almighty God, the Lord of Host is with you. Fear not. Go! Rest in Peace. Trust in the Lord. How shall they hear without a ‘preacher’ (a herald, proclaimer)?
I have faced the world with the knowledge of what Jesus can do.
As a pilgrim trusting Jesus for his daily bread and everything else had now idea that a movie was waiting at the end of the journey (even though I still do crosswalks). “The Cross” movie was made as a documentary and gives a look into this amazing journey on one with ‘nothing yet possessing everything’. This movie can move you from self-focus to Jesus and people focus.
There is something in your heart that you can give. There is something in your hand that you can share. There is a word in your mouth that can give hope and life. What is it? Share it! We can all share love.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Jesus asked His followers to forsake all and follow Him. What will you do?

God bless you on your journey.
Pilgrim followers of Jesus,
Arthur and Denise Blessitt,
Luke 18:1
Weeks ago I started with the letter A and will go to Z focusing on a nation or island group, and what I learned in that place. If you are looking for perfection then just read the Words of Jesus in the New Testament of the Bible. I’m only a pilgrim that has and is still on a journey with Jesus. He is constantly working on me like a potter does the clay. Welcome to the potter’s house!
