Isaiah 53:5
But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.
Isaiah 50:6
Oh, I must confess that it is hard to write about the Back of Jesus. Every mention of the back of Jesus is associated with pain and suffering yet it is also the place of our healing. So we can feel the pain of His suffering yet know the Glory of our needs being met in the suffering of Jesus.
Thank you Jesus for your back and the awful pain You endured for our deliverance.
The Roman scourge was a horrible punishment. Normally it was for the worse of people. The whip tore the skin and ripped away the flesh to the bone. Not only the back but the side and chest were also hit and the flesh cut away. Often people died from the scourging. Yet with each strip our healing was provided for. As the Blood of Jesus was poured out our sins were being washed away.
In the pain of Jesus’ back we can be made whole. Glory.
Matthew 27:26
Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.
Mark 15:15
So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be crucified.
Matthew 20:19
“and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.”
Mark 10:34
“and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”
Luke 18:33
“They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”
Let us remember the Back of Jesus with horror and also Glory.
May we give our life and body to Jesus to be used for His Glory and Honor.
Peace and blessing to you all in Jesus Name.
