Prayers

Prayer is simply talking to God. I know Him to be with me, in me, and so nothing is too small or great to speak of. Jesus said He calls us ‘friends’ (John 15:15) so I seek to live with a open heart and mind to His presence and listen for His voice in my spirit.

I praise Him. Speak of the beauty of things; flowers, love, people, everything. I do speak to Him about others’ needs, desires and hurts.

In my prayers I seek to cover everything, even the smallest detail. Praying about the day, all things I might face, and all possible happenings. The same it true for future plans. Each day I tell God I welcome all from Him and reject all from Satan. I ask for His voice or impulse in me to be what I follow. Then I seek to obey that.

I do pray a lot that my mind is clear, pure, loving and full of concern for others. I daily ask for forgiveness as I am a sinner and rest in Jesus’s peace. I desire to clearly hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and obey.

I ask God to filter out the many voices of the world and to let me hear only Him.

I seek the most, ‘His way’ ‘His truth’ ‘His life’

I hunger and thirst for all the fullness of His glory.

My constant desire is for Him to give me His feeling and concern for others. To truly care and reach out a helping hand in every real and practical way. I don’t want my love to be in theory but in deed and action in a personal way. I ask Jesus to put His desire and pure love in me to reach out to others.

May I be a clear witness for Jesus in sharing His love and salvation with others in every situation.

I want pure motive, intent and desire. One can do ‘good’ and ‘look good’ but have a evil, selfish, unforgiving or lustful heart. God knows the heart and intent and every thought. One of the best prayers prayed by a person is from David in the Bible.

“Search me oh God and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts; see if there is any wicked way in me. Lead me in Thy way everlasting.”
(Psalm 139:23-24)

Consider now how Paul in the Bible puts it;

“Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say Rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all people. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally brethren,
whatever things are
true,
noble,
just,
pure,
lovely,
of good report
if there is any virtue,
if there is anything praiseworthy,
think,(meditate) on these things!”
Philippians 4:4-8

Jesus said it this way;

“One aught always to pray and not to faint” (Luke 18:1)

Now YOU just begin a talk to your Lord now.

Here are a few suggested prayers:

Most merciful God,
We confess that we have sinned against you
By what we have done,
And by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
Have mercy on us and forgive us;
That we may delight in your will,
And walk in your ways,
To the glory of your Name. Amen.

(A prayer from The Book of Common Prayer)

Denise and I pray the following four prayers Each morning upon rising

The Jesus Prayer
(Repeat Three Times)

“Lord Jesus Christ Son of God
have mercy on me a sinner”

Yes Lord Yes

Yes Lord Yes
To your will and to your way
I say yes Lord yes
I will trust you and obey
When your Spirit speaks to me
With my whole heart I’ll agree
And my answer will be yes Lord yes.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our father who are in heaven
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom the power and the glory
For ever and ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:9-13
