Jesus (Many Left Him)

John 6:1-2 After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased.

John 6:66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

This 6th chapter of John is very powerful and even shocking. It begins with huge crowds following Jesus and ends with them leaving Him to follow Him no more.

Strange but the same thing still happens today.

People often came to Jesus simply for selfish reason. They had no desire to really follow Him and live in His Way, Truth and Life. They wanted Jesus for what they could get out of Him not because of Who He Was (IS).

Jesus is more than just a sideshow or an exciting encounter. Jesus is Lord! The crowds in this chapter wanted food, healings, etc. when Jesus said He was the Bread of Life they did not want this. They wanted real bread they could taste. We must be careful that we do not come to Jesus for the wrong reasons and miss Him.

See, what happened to the people then and even many of His disciples were that they simply left Jesus. The church doors swing both ways! Often we think that should we just have Jesus preaching at your church it would be full and overflowing. True, but in a short time people would be mad at Him too and leave.

Why do some keep following? Because they have come to know Jesus and been truly born again and have become His follower. We see that there were some that stayed faithful. These we read about in the first chapters of Acts. They knew, loved and followed Jesus and then went out to the world in the power of the Holy Spirit to preach and teach in the Name of Jesus.

I encourage you who have wavered and backslidden to take a fresh look at Jesus. Not the church or religion or morality but Jesus! Do you truly love Him? Do you want to please Him and follow Him? Do you want to spend eternity with Him?
Yes!
Oh, turn back and fall into the loving merciful arms of Jesus and know His love and mercy and forgiveness.

John 6:67-69 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
“Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Don’t be one that walks away but stand with your Lord. Remember Judas, one of the 12 left Jesus. Don’t let the Devil take away your victory. Even in the tough times and struggles of life, don’t fall away but fall into the mercy of Jesus.

I am praying for people who read this to repent and return to your first love, Jesus.

Have a blessed week and forever.
