But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear ,
and immediately blood and water came out.
John 19:33-34
Oh the Side of Jesus! His Side pierced with a spear!
See the Lamb of God slain for our sins, bleeding upon the altar of the cross. What love and sacrifice for a sinful world for sinful me!
Thanks you Jesus for your Side. Thank you for your Body and Blood. You lived and died for us and now may we trust you and believe in You and follow You. You are my Lord and My God.
John 20:20-28
Now when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side . Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again,
“Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.’And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them,
“Receive the Holy Spirit.
“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them;
if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’
Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve,
was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.’ So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side , I will not believe.’
And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!’
Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side.
Do not be unbelieving, but believing.’
And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!’
To the fearful and doubting disciples Jesus showed His wounded side. By this they could tell He was not a ghost but real flesh. It was the Jesus they knew but now alive after the cross and death! The resurrected Jesus was able to pass through closed doors and could eat and drink yet His wounded side was still open!
Dear unbelieving friend put your hand into the Side of Jesus and believe! Trust Jesus and live!
Cry out “My Lord and my God’!
Start now and give your heart, mind, body and soul to Jesus and follow Him.
