Kiribati: “The Spirit is like the Wind”

“You do not know what is the Way of the Spirit (Wind)” Ecclesiastes 11:5

Crowds of thousands of people were lining the main road waiting for the cross. Some people were even in the trees to get above the jam of people. An awaking was taking place on the Island of Tarawa.

We did not know one person in the Pacific Island nation of Kiribati. Our flight was one day late leaving the Marshall Islands but no problem no one was waiting for us…at least that is what we thought. A radio program from Radio Australia that broadcast throughout the Pacific had done an interview with me by phone a week or two earlier and it gave the date of the arrival of my wife Denise and I with the cross on Tarawa.

At the little airport we saw a large crowd of people and we commented how wonderful that people were there waiting for family. Then an immigration official said, “Welcome, see the crowd outside? They are waiting for you!”

I bolted the cross together outside the airport and then preached. There were people lining the road as far as I could see. It was boiling hot, I was thirsty and soon exhausted from the heat, preaching and the press of people. The police directed traffic around the cross and gave us the highway in many places. Police walked with us to help control the excited crowds. Missionaries there said they had never seen or heard anything like what was happening. Jesus did it! The Holy Spirit was moving! Thousands prayed to receive Jesus as Savior.

After preaching for fifty-five years and carrying the cross in every nation and major inhabited island group on earth “The Spirit is like the Wind”.

You arrive in one nation and seem to be almost ignored and cross the border to the next nation and huge crowds gather in just minutes and thousands gather in the next hour and awakening sweeps along the way of the cross. People are weeping and receiving Jesus everywhere. There are healing and mighty works and it all just exploded. I’ve seen this happen all over the world. Once a group of pastors came to me in the middle of thousands of people gathering around the cross and said “ ‘who arranged all this?’ We did not even know who you are, or that you were coming!” I simply pointed up and said “Jesus” and the “Holy Spirit”!

Why?

“The Spirit (Wind) blows where is wishes and you can hear the sound of it but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.” John 3:8

Over and over around the world often in the most unexpected places there is a mighty move of the Spirit. Often pastors and churches fast, pray, believe and expect but do not see what they want to see. Some even minister for years and die with out ever seeing what they had prayed for. Then, the mighty Wind of the Holy Spirit blows in a certain town, or city or nation and where it does not seem that people have prepared as others have. A man or woman studies, prepares, goes to university and seminary and live for years longing for revival and a mighty move of Jesus and then upon the seemingly most unprepared or unqualified person the anointing comes and this person is raised up by God to do what others are amazed at or even envious of.

God is sovereign. The methods and counsels of God are greater than our understanding. We do not know the full mind of God or the fullness of His Ways. Just look at Moses at eighty years old tending sheep when God speaks from the Burning Bush. There is David also out with the sheep as a teenager when God sends Samuel to anoint him King of Israel. There were the twelve disciples and the seventy disciples and the one hundred and twenty people on the day of Pentecost and many more yet the Spirit falls on Saul who became Paul who was putting followers of Jesus in prison and persecuting believers and even consenting to the murder of Steven. Yet this is the man called to evangelize the gentiles as well as the Jews and write much of the New Testament.

All I can say is what Jesus said after his disciples came back from going from town to town and seeing mighty miracles and works, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” Luke 10:23

Be free for the Breath of the Spirit, The Wind of the Holy Spirit to blow through and be ready to move as He leads. This you cannot buy or promote.

The Holy Spirit is moving all over the world. Let Him blow where you are! “Here am I Lord…Send Me””

To view some of the mighty moves of the Holy Spirit in our world today I invite you to watch the movie “The Cross”. You witness the Spirit moving in many different ways. You are challenged and moved to welcome the Holy Spirit to move and manifest the Power of Jesus in your life and our world today. Pilgrim followers of Jesus,

Arthur and Denise Blessitt,

Luke 18:1

Weeks ago I started with the letter A and will go to Z focusing on a nation or island group, and what I learned in that place. If you are looking for perfection then just read the Words of Jesus in the New Testament of the Bible. I’m only a pilgrim that has and is still on a journey with Jesus. He is constantly working on me like a potter does the clay. Welcome to the potter’s house!
