And He (God) said, “My Presence will go with you,
and I will give you rest.” Then he (Moses) said to Him,
“If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. Exodus 33:14-15
In this stress filled and busy life is it even possible to live a life of ‘Rest’? It is often thought that in today’s world we must run and rush and dash and deal and press or we will be left behind.
The thought is that ‘you must make it happen’!
All the pressure is on YOU! If you can dream of it you can make it happen. If you don’t take no for an answer but push and shove and scramble and fight then you can make it to the front.
But the question is: do you have rest in your heart, spirit and soul? Sure with the proper attitude success may come. But what kind of success is it; wealth, property, strength, influence, victories, brilliance or fame?
The promises of God’s word it that it is right and possible to have ‘rest’ on your journey. You do not have to forfeit this great gift.
Moses was in the wilderness in the Sinai with the Children of Israel having fled Egypt. They had enemies all about and tremendous struggles for food and drink, etc.
When Moses met with God “face to face” and turned everything over to God the reply of God to Moses was:
“My Presence will go with you,
and I will give you rest.”
God gave this incredible gift to Moses.
God was going to give Moses rest in his journey! What a glorious promise. That same promise is for you and me today.
I have walked around the world with the cross and one of the key blessings of my journey is learning to walk in ‘rest’, not ‘stress’.
I believe you can live with rest in your soul, heart, spirit and mind not matter what you face.
This is a miracle rest.
This is a gift of rest.
This rest does not depend on circumstances.
This rest is not controlled by others.
This rest you cannot buy.
This God rest is not something someone can give you or take away.
This is a Holy Gift from God, it is the gift of ‘rest’.
I will, God willing deal with this subject more in the next weeks but for now I want to say that true rest only comes when you know and believe in the sovereignty of God.
When you think that you are the one in control or making things happen then all the pressure is on you. When things fail you alone feel the pain and struggle to find answers or excuses. The more dependent one is on God the less stress a person has.
The great answer is to line your life up with the will and God and let Jesus lead you in all things. God will bring to pass His glorious will in your life and on earth as it is in Heaven.
So focus in Jesus. Let the faith of Jesus fill you that you my trust God and not fear.
Get in the will of God and enjoy resting in Him always.
