Sufferings and Heartaches!

Sufferings and heartaches! Unseen pains trouble the heart and despair is covered by activities and forced smiles. The outward appearance looks nothing like the heart inside. Tears flow when no one is about and nights are long and sad. Dreams are shattered and hope is almost gone. Does anyone care? Is there hope, peace, joy or only fear in this life and fear of eternity. Tired and weary? I need life!

Standing with outstretched arms is Jesus! Father God dearly loves you. Jesus, the Word became Flesh and gave His life and died on the cross so you and I could be born again into the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit will fill you with the gifts of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, goodness, faith, meekness and self control. There IS good news for this life and eternity.

I remember back in about 1983 I was carrying the cross in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on the beach. I saw several young men walking toward me. One man came directly up to me and began cursing me and mocking me about the cross and there being no God. I could see he was very hurt and bitter. He screamed at me. I told him Jesus loved him and he replied ‘where was He when the bomb in Beirut killed hundreds?’ I told him I had carried the cross there during the war in 1982 with my son Joshua. We had picked up pieces of blown up bodies and shared Jesus with the troops on all sides.

He was looking into my eyes. He said ‘You were there’. ‘You do care’. He then fell into my arms weeping! I told him how Jesus had died on the cross for him and that Jesus could heal his heart, forgive his sins and give him a new life. Jesus arose on the third day alive and living. Jesus can save you I shared and you can have peace in your heart and eternal life. I led him and his buddies in prayer and God gave them salvation in Jesus that day. We sat and talked and the pains of the past became bearable and peace came in his soul. Jesus can do the same for you today.

Jesus can save you now and for all eternity. Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost.

We have hope because the scripture says “Emmanuel, God with us!” We are not alone. His Name is Jesus! Glory.

Your sins are washed away by the Holy Blood of Jesus shed on the cross for our sins. The Blood of Jesus the scripture says cleanses us from all sin.

You now can forgive others and be free of the spirit of hurt or vengeance. Love will fill your heart.

Healing of your physical needs is possible. Jesus can do a miracle of healing in your body as He has in mine many times. I have seen thousands of people healed around the world. Lift the needs up to the Lord Jesus and trust Him. Sometimes He does not give the healing we desire but Jesus gives the grace and strength to live at peace and bear the pain or disappointment. When Paul asked the Lord three times to remove a thorn in the flesh that it would depart from him Jesus said “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” You can read this in 2 Corinthians 11 and 12th chapters.

This does not mean that we are not to expect physical healing but He does let those who are not healed know that He has not forsaken them or does not care. Some must suffer a lifetime in prison or physical affliction but there is a purpose sometimes often unknown to us that God is working out in our bodies and lives.

Jesus calls for people with broken hearts to come to Him and He will give you rest. The Lord will “console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3

Jesus frees us from fears. “And behold, a great storm arose in the sea so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but He Himself was sleeping. The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” Jesus is greater than all our fears no matter how challenging the times may be. Matthew 8:24-26; Luke 8:24

Faith is a gift from God to you and I. You don’t have to try to create it, it is a free gift. Enough to save you and enough faith to live by in this life.

Healing of our souls: “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 Then Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord. Luke 1:46

Healing of our emotions: Why are you sad? And He (Jesus) said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad!” When the disciples walked, talked and ate with Jesus and He prayed, their spiritual eyes were open and they said one to another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road and while He opened the scriptures to us.”

Luke 24:17-32 When you realize and that you know that Jesus is with you. He heals the troubled heart and joy replaces sadness and doubt.

Healing of our spirit: Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you ‘You must be born again.’ John 3:3-7 The Holy Spirit come into ones heart and life and spirit when we are saved. Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Comforter!

Oh, how often we need the Comforter to give us strength to face the day or the issue that is before us. Jesus is able!

Love the Lord! Love others! “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31

Jesus said it clearly in John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me.”

Now I will share some steps of living in the glorious Presence of the Lord in the following scriptures.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things.”

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

“My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ.” Philippians 4th chapter.

Also please remember to love, worship and follow Jesus in all things. It is not by your efforts that we live but by the Power and Grace of God. This scripture is powerful. “For it is God who ‘works’ in you both to will and ‘to do’ His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13 It is very important to note that the same Greek word is used for “works” and “to do”. So God gives us His desire ‘works’ and the power ‘to do’! The word in greek is “energes” (powerful, active, effectual). This means that Jesus will work in us to desire His will and way and the power to follow Jesus now and through all eternity.

This is the fourth devotion I have written on ‘Suffering’. All four can be found on the following page on our website. I would encourage you to read all four and perhaps print them off and use for your Bible study.

I pray this has been a treasured blessing and help. I close with this passage of scripture: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in step in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-25

If you have not received Jesus as your Savior please pray to Him right now. “Dear Holy God, I need you. I confess I am a sinner and ask Jesus who came to earth to die on the cross for me to save my soul. I repent of my sins. Jesus wash away my sins by your Holy Blood shed for me. I put my faith in you. I confess Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead and Jesus lives! I welcome the Holy Spirit in my life. I am not ashamed of Jesus. In Jesus Name I pray!

These words I have used in leading people in a healing prayer.

Welcome Jesus in my heart,

Welcome Jesus in my mind,

Welcome Jesus in my spirit,

Welcome Jesus in my body,

Welcome Jesus in my soul,

Line me up with the Word of God!

Thank you Jesus.

I welcome Your Glorious Presence always.

In Jesus Name I pray!
