The five days we stayed on the little island of Niue were among the most memorable time we spent in the entire Pacific area.
My wife and I arrived by airplane and Denise took out bags to the lovely Coral Gardens Motel by taxi went to stay at the lovely Coral Gardens Motel. I started out at the airport and carried the cross to the hotel.
People stopped me all along the way to talk, to pray and to welcome the cross. They gave me love, water, cold drinks, coconut juice and all kinds of food.
We went for a fabulous buffet dinner the first night and oh, the food and the moon and the water and the people! What a wonderful place. The hotel was just great. We could go down some steps that led to the sea and a cove that was like paradise!
We rented a car and Denise would drive up the road several miles in front of me where she would park with water and supplies until I arrived. Often a crowd would be gathered around her and the car. She would pass out Jesus stickers and gospel material to the people. She always greeted me smiling and cheerful. Most of the time it was very hot and there she sat in the baking heat of the car waiting for me. She is the tough one of the two of us!
We did a radio interview and two newspapers did a story.
Often Denise would tell me of a hidden beach or cove she had found while waiting for me. I would carry the cross to the place and we would swim in splendor. Then I would dry off, and continue on down the road! People would stop and talk and pray. It was a glory crosswalk vacation!
We fell in love with the people of Niue. It is a wonderful place and so full of beauty.
God bless Niue,
Pilgrim followers of Jesus,
