South Africa

South Africa and Ciskei, Kwazulu, Transkei, Bophuthatswana, Gazankulu and Venda
1985-1986

“We must let go of hurt lest it becomes hate and consumes us in the inferno.”

If you can’t love the one that hurts you the most, how can you love anybody!

When I carried the cross in South Africa Ciskei, Kwazulu, Transkei, Bophuthatswana, Gazankulu and Venda were called ‘independent homelands’ . These have now been incorporated back into the Republic of South Africa. The Travelers Century Club and Guinness Book did recognize these as separate countries at the time I walked in each of them, so I included them in my list of nations, island groups and territories.

I have written an entire book on the different cross walks in South Africa called “Arthur, Peacemaker.” Since that book is on my website I want to link to it so you can read it. On this page I will just give photos and ask you to go to the link to read the story. (Click Here)

Photos of the cross walk in South Africa:

The 21-days ‘fasting and praying’; 7 days each in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town:

Johannesburg: Seven days of fasting and prayer. June 24-July 1, 1986

Durban: Seven days of fasting and prayer July 8-15, 1986

Capetown: Seven days of fasting and prayer July 19-26, 1986

This was some of the most glorious and powerful days of my life. So many thousands came to pray and many were healed as I fasted and slept and prayed and witnessed in the city center of the these three great cities.

Some of the South African leaders we met:

May God bless South Africa! I love you all. You were so welcoming to the cross and to Joshua and I. It is beautiful to see the great changes made since our crosswalk in the mid 1980’s.

Again I encourage you to read the awesome story of carrying the cross in South Africa in my book, Arthur, Peacemaker. The book is available to download on this website.
