The Heart, Out of the Heart

There are some columns that I write much of my own words and thoughts. However this subject is explosive and lays open the heart of a person that I dare not touch it. The words of Jesus are clear and the words of the Father so profound that should you have a problem with what is said here you must confront God and not me!

I have heard so many people and even preachers try to talk their way out of the things Jesus said here. One can wiggle and squirm and try to find a way of escape but to no avail.

The evil lies Within’¦the Heart!

We can dress up and look religious. We can have the right words to say and do the seemingly right things but Jesus know the Heart. See the scripture at the bottom of this column. Read slowly and carefully the following and ask Jesus to show you should any of these things be in your heart at this very moment.

When He (Jesus) had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them,

“Hear and understand:

Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth,

this defiles a man (person).”

So Jesus said,

“Are you also still without understanding?

Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth

goes into the stomach and is eliminated?

But those things, which proceed out of the mouth , come from the heart ,

and they defile a man (person).

For out of the heart proceed

evil thoughts,

murders,

adulteries,

fornications,

thefts,

covetousness,

wickedness,

deceit,

lewdness,

an evil eye,

false witness,

blasphemy,

pride,

and foolishness.

All these evil things come from within and defile a man (person).”

(Matthew 15:10-11, Matthew 15:16-20, Mark 7:17-23 in the Holy Bible)

These six things the LORD hates ,

Yes, seven are an abomination to Him :

A proud look,

A lying tongue,

Hands that shed innocent blood,

A heart that devises wicked plans,

Feet that are swift in running to evil,

A false witness who speaks lies,

And one who sows discord among brethren.

(Proverbs 6:16-19 in the Holy Bible)

I will not expound on the points the Lord makes above. Just do not try to justify your actions or me my actions.

Let us repent!

Oh, I have sat and talked with ministers, as we are involved in a theological discussion of many of these points. You should hear the ways we try to escape the impact of the above words.

Some will say “Well, you may have the desire but should you not act on it you did not commit a sin. You had the desire to hurt someone or you do hate someone but since there is no action there is no sin?’

Others may say “Lust in the heart is not the same as physical adultery’. Oh, but Jesus says it is! Then we try to pick apart the word lust so that lust is not lust unless you make an action to bring adultery to pass.

Oh, I tell you it gets weird trying to make Jesus say something He did not say.

We have heard of many people or ministers who have committed ‘acts’ of some sin and were dismissed from their church or scandalized publicly. By whom? By the same people who have had the same thoughts in their hearts. Somehow some of us think that should we take no action then we are not guilty.

Jesus knows the heart and all will come to His judgment seat. Now don’t think I am being hard. I’m not. I have to face Jesus today and the indwelling Holy Spirit that is within me and the Eye of the Father even as I write this. I cannot escape nor can you.

I want to stop for a moment and let you read the following Words of Jesus. I want to encourage you who are very familiar with the Bible not to just rush through these words but ponder then in your heart as I must do in mine.

Jesus said:

“You have heard that it was said to those of old,

‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’

But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever

looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed

adultery with her in his heart.

If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
(Matthew 5:21-30 in the Holy Bible)

How often do you hear that scripture read before the church offering is given?

I would just like to add a final thought.

What a person says about someone else reveals more about them,

than the person being spoken of.

So God, who knows the heart,

And Jesus, perceiving the thoughts of their heart,

But Jesus knew their thoughts,

But He knew their thoughts,

Jesus knew all men,

He knew what was in man

For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe.
(Acts 15:8, Luke 9:47, Matthew 12:25, Luke 6:8, John 2:24, John 2:25, John 6:64)

Next week God willing we will continue with the ‘Heart’.
