Guadeloupe

1992

My wife, Denise and I arrived at the airport in Guadeloupe and I began carrying the cross from the airport to the hotel where Denise had gone to take our bags.

It was very hot as I walked along the road. Then a God sent flood of rain, which cooled me off. People were stopping and talking. It was glorious.

I did a radio interview and newspaper story and most of the island population knew the cross had arrived.

Denise would drive ahead about three or four miles in front of me and would then wait for me with water and a snack.

We had a wonderful time on this island.
