Jesus! (His Birth)

The Christmas story is astounding! Now for centuries the world has stood in wonder concerning the birth of Jesus.

In the Book of John the Holy Bible declares:

John 1:14

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us , and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Oh, wonder of wonders’¦God became Flesh! The Divine became Flesh!

The Babe of Bethlehem, the Son of God, the Savior of the world!

No wonder the angels came to announce His birth but this is not the only marvel. The announcement was not made to the leaders of the mighty Roman government or to the Temple priests in Jerusalem but to common shepherds in the fields tending their sheep.

God still does the same today, revealing Himself to common people and in the most unlikely places. You just cannot put God in the thought box of man. His ways are not our ways.

Our loving and glorious Lord Jesus stepped from the portals of Glory and from His place in all eternity to in one moment become flesh as an embryo in the womb of the Virgin Mary! The story of Christmas is that this Holy One was born in the flesh. God the Word became Flesh. Holy, Sinless, God and Flesh! And this all for sinner’s redemption!

Contrast God’s announcement of the birth of His Son to the world leaders of today.

“Ladies and gentlemen’¦the President of the United States of America’ A long line of cars, guards, and a shirt ‘Commander in Chief’! Don’t worry, should the president ever come near you will know it!

“Ladies and gentlemen’¦Her Royal Highness the Queen of England!’ You can’t miss her. Arriving in a stunning horse drawn carriage, dressed in splendor, wearing a crown of gold and jewels, and sitting there on the throne!

Now Jesus!

“And she (Mary) brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger (feeding trough), because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

“And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward people!”

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”

And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.

And all those who heard it marveled at those things, which were told them by the shepherds.

But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

(Luke 2:7-20 in the Holy Bible)

Here is Jesus!

No room for Him at the Inn.

Here is Jesus!

Born in an animal stable.

Here is Jesus!

Laying in a cattle trough (manger)

Here are shepherds in the fields watching over their sheep by night!

An angel of the Lord stood before them to make the Birth announcement of Jesus!

The Glory of the Lord shone around about them!

“A Savior, who is Christ the Lord’!

“And suddenly there was with the angels a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward people!”

The shepherds went to see Jesus and then returned glorifying and praising God!

You see the manger scene, then the shepherds in the fields, then the angel and hosts of heaven praising God, then on the manger and Jesus again and then back to the fields.

Beat, beat, beat went the little heart of Jesus. Held in His mother’s arms breathing the breath of earth’s air in His little lungs.

Little feet, beautiful body, tiny hands and cute spotless head’¦born in Bethlehem!

The Word became Flesh!

Feet pierced with nails driven into the cross!

Body bloody and cut dripping Blood from the horrible scourging!

Hands nailed to the cross!

Head bruised from beatings, swollen from burst blood vessels, and pierced with a crown of thorns!

Jesus Lord and Savior dying for our sins!

This is Not the End!

This ‘SAME’ Jesus was resurrected, then ascended to the Father and will hear your prayers and mine.

Let us join with the shepherds, with Mary and Joseph, with the angel of the Lord and with the Hosts of Heaven in worshiping and praising Jesus!

Let us join with billions of people the world over in worshiping Christ the King!
