My wife, Denise and I carried the cross in Albania in late January of 1995.

The country was undergoing great political turmoil. There were demonstrations in the streets and police and army personnel were everywhere.

Yet in all of this we carried the cross and gave out gospel material.

People were selling everything they could find in the streets. They were happy to get the free Jesus stickers. We did not have an interpreter but a few people spoke English. We carried the cross in a big loop around the capital Tirana and then into the city center.

So happy that this once very atheist communist nation was now free and trying to find it’s new direction. There are so many poor people here, many very desperate.

God bless Albania,
