Jesus (My Friend)

“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.’ (John 15:15 in the Holy Bible)

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It is also one of my most cherished things about Jesus’¦Jesus is my Friend!

I have many different relationships with people. But Jesus is my Friend.

Through all my life on all my journeys Jesus has never failed. Jesus is my Friend.

Oh, I love you Jesus! You are glorious and your love, presence and friendship fill my heart with love and adoration. Teach me Jesus how to be your friend.

In this life one can have but few real friends. There are many potential friends in and around my life but there simply isn’t enough time to be a real friend with many. To be a true friend requires time together. It also requires openness and honesty. Mixed with this is a desire to know and share life’s adventures, pains and journey no matter the cost.

I discovered that I mistook acquaintances for friends. There was a time that I thought common interests and projects and time together was friendship. I was sadly wrong. When struggles came my way ‘friends’ vanished in the night. I realized that I had failed to develop real friendships. I learned my lesson and have since sought to develop friendships in my life, people that I love and care for and that also care for my family and me as friends. We are solid and sure and can laugh and cry together without judgment but love.

I had put to the aside real friends in years past. My life was caught up with activities with people. What a joy to find that old friends were real friends! I will never leave them or them me. These friends are more precious than any treasure or success. They are beyond value; they are my friends. Glory!

The difference with Jesus is that He does not have to limit Himself to a few but can be a friend to all who desire His friendship and fellowship and follow Him. This is glorious! Unlimited millions and billions can have Jesus as their Friend. Jesus will never change. You can count on Him.

Just because people you thought were your friends left you don’t let that stop you from loving and forgiving and being able to be a friend. You see Jesus even called Judas His friend even as Judas was betraying the Lord. Jesus experienced failed friendship. Jesus was Judas’ friend but Judas was not Jesus’ friend. He appeared to be but was not.

And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.
Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying,
“Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.”
Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him. But Jesus said to him , “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him. (Matthew 26:47-50 in the Holy Bible)

Remember we must seek to be a friend just as we desire friendship.

A thrilling thing about Jesus was that that He called Himself a “FRIEND OF SINNERS”

Here the Holy Jesus is portraying Himself as a sinner’s friend. There is hope for you and me! Praise God. Jesus wants to be your friend.

“For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
“The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ “But wisdom is justified by all her children.” Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. (Luke 7:33-36 in the Holy Bible)

Please consider this profound scripture:

And the Scripture was fulfilled which says,

“Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
(James 2:23 in the Holy Bible)

Wow, Abraham was called the friend of God. I must confess that is also my passion. To have God consider you or me His friend is glorious beyond words.

Develop your friendships. Don’t take them for granted.

Be a true friend with Jesus!

Jesus will be your friend! Now and Forever!

Welcome Jesus into your life, now.

“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.’ (John 15:15 in the Holy Bible)
