We have been hearing much about the movie “The Passion of the Christ’. It focuses on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. For two thousand years people have focused on the cross and this is glorious. I have carried a cross around the world for 34 years in every nation. I have focused on the suffering of Jesus for all these years.
But for this message I want us to think of:
Who died on the Cross ? Can you personally Know Him?
I want us to think about ‘who’ it was that died on the cross?
In history many thousands have died on crosses. Why do we not pray to the other two who died on crosses the day Jesus died on the cross?
It is because of “Who’ Jesus is!
He is the Virgin born Son of God; God who became Flesh. This is the One who not only died for our sins but arose again on the third day and has ascended unto the Father.
Jesus is “One’ with the Father and the Holy Spirit!
He who knew no sin could die for our sins.
Should you or I go to Buckingham Palace in England to meet the Queen, they would turn you and I away at the gate. A car drives up to the palace, the gate is opened and the passengers in the car are let in. What is the difference? They are the sons of the Queen!
Jesus died on the cross for you and I. When we receive Him as Savior and Lord we by the mercy and grace of God come into God’s kingdom! We are now in the ‘Family of God’.
You can right now come into a place far more glorious than Buckingham Palace . You can come to the Throne of God.
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,
having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,
and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.
And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near.
For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God’
Yes, Jesus give His all that you may be in His Family and Kingdom forever! From the cross Jesus saw you and paid the price of our salvation in His Blood.
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross , despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.’
My friend Bob Shorkey and I were having lunch the other day in Fort Myers , Florida . He said as we were talking about the movie the “The Passion of the Christ’.
“At the Cross-, Jesus gave it All.
Jesus had nothing to Gain but us!’
I grabbed a pen and wrote those words down.
The other night the Lord awakened me and He told me to get up and write. He said,
“Tell the people,
“Stop believing what the Devil says about you!
Start believing what God says about you!’
The Devil came to steal, kill and destroy.
Jesus came to give ‘life’ and that more abundantly.
Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil’¦
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.’
I John 3:8
“No one comes to the Father except by Me’ Jesus said. (John 14:6)
I want to let Jesus speak for Himself explaining ‘Who’ He is!
I want to let Jesus speak for Himself. Let Jesus describe to you who He is!
I Am the Resurrection! (John 11:25)
I Am the Way! (John 14:6)
I Am the Truth! (John 14:6)
I Am the Life! (John 14:6)
I Am the Good Shepherd! (John 10:11)
I Am the True Vine! I Am the Vine! (John 15:1,5)
I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
I Am a King! (John 18:37)
I am Jesus of Nazareth (Acts 22:8)
I am the Son of God! Son of Man! (John 10:36-37)
I Am the Alpha and the Omega! The First and the Last! The beginning and the end! (Revelation 1:8, 11)
I Am the Bread of Life! (John 6:35,41)
I Am the Door! (John 10:7)
I Am the Light of the world! (John 8:12, 9:5)
I Am ! Before Abraham was ‘I Am’! (John 8:38)
I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
Please ponder each of the above statements of Jesus. He describes for Himself who He is!
“God our Savior,
Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and people,
the Man Christ Jesus’
